According to TEDx, the annoying "human verifying" words that are written in all squiggly lines and even hard for humans to process--known as captchas--are now being used to help digitize old books that a computer scanner cannot recognize. Furthermore, this technology is now being developed to help translate different articles on the internet. The company that is launching this technology is called DuoLingo (www.duolingo.com) and is currently in Beta stages. This site will offer free foreign language education in exchange for the user's time in helping translate different words, sentences, and phrases, which will ultimately help translate articles to and from different languages.
